I sometimes find it hard to just do my homework and engage in extracurricular activities: I usually end up doomscrolling on TikTok or Instagram. I would imagine that it's a big problem you struggle with too. If you're a high school student, you may find it hard to have good time management, engage in things, and stay motivated. If so, you are in the right place! So, sit back, take notes, and learn how to stop procrastinating and stay motivated!
How to Stay Motivated: One of the main things people do to stay motivated is set smart goals in order to find something to chase and achieve, which helps them complete tasks and stay motivated. Another small thing most people often overlook is rewarding themselves for achievements, big and small, and surrounding themselves with positivity. Rewarding yourself for achievements triggers and releases dopamine in your brain, which promotes positive behaviors and satisfaction. The reason we aren't motivated is because we, as humans, chase pleasure and try to avoid pain as much as possible. This is basically how we were wired. To rewire yourself, you need to build good habits and have good time management.

How to Not Procrastinate: Procrastination is an extremely big problem for people today. With phones and screens all around us, it is easier than ever to get distracted and put off work until it's too late to complete it. Procrastinators' main issue is that they don't realize they're procrastinating; they're often lazy and they think that what they are doing is perfectly fine. By setting SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-based) goals and minimizing distractions around your workplace, you can create a solid base for good habits and minimal procrastination. One method that personally works for me is downloading a screen time app to block all of my apps and allow pure focus. You can also take breaks and rest between work sessions to allow your brain to rest.
Conclusion: Overall, a lack of motivation and procrastination stems from the way we work and what we do throughout the day. The easiest way to combat these two issues is by setting up good habits for yourself, taking action immediately, and having good time management. You should also remember that a good habit is practicing self-compassion and not beating yourself up.
P.S: I procrastinated writing this blog for a very long time. 😉
