Listening to Your Parents is a Good Idea

As a teen, it constantly seems like your parents are making your decisions without caring about how you feel. This isn't the case. Parents make choices that will help you, even if you don't immediately understand how. They have your best interest in mind!

Throughout my life, I thought my parents didn't care about my views. I thought their decisions were made without a thought of what I wanted. I was wrong. Over the years, many of these decisions put a stop to the things in my life which could have dangerous consequences. Through it all, my parents have been there for me. An example can be see when I followed my mom's advice to join TAG. She thought I try out serving for the library with TAG. Now, looking back, I greatly appreciate her support in making me join as I continually enjoy my time as a member of TAG.

If you are looking for some outside perspective, you should check out this video. This guy talks about all the things your mom provides in life. Parents can seem like a nuisance sometimes. Are you always gonna agree with their methods? No. Are you going to like their choices? Of course not. But in the end, it's all done with you in mind.

Librarian Ulayah Ivey says, "I've always felt like my mom gives great advice. When she gave me 'rules' to follow, I listened. The earliest rule or piece of advice that I can remember my mom sharing is learning to play by yourself. She was setting me up for the reality that establishing friends and friendships will not always be easy and people come and go. Therefore, you just might have to be content and secure with the idea of playing alone every now and then, and that's okay. I will forever value that 'rule'!"

My advice is as follows:
