How Words Can Be Just As Important As Actions

The saying "actions speak louder than words" is not necessarily true. Though this phrase has been said since the 1200s, both your actions and words can send different messages. That's why using your words and actions together can create the perfect duo. Mark Twain once said, "Action speaks louder than words but not nearly as often." You can take this quote in various aspects. Your words can be just as important as your actions when used in your own speech, your writing, and your ability to stick by them.

Your own speech can dictate what people think and feel about you. For most people, their words are specifically thought out to create solutions, make relationships, and overall create great outcomes. If you go for a job interview, the people you are meeting do not know anything about you. The words you use during this interview can either make or break your opportunity. Most people listen to your words and use them to create an opinion about you. This is where your actions come into play with your words. If you say something about yourself and your actions do not match, many people will not trust you.

If you think about how people write, you may reflect on the words of different authors. So many authors have touched hearts and souls through the power of their words. Most do not even know what actions authors did in their lifetime. When writing, you cannot show your emotions without using specific words. In this version of speech, your actions cannot be seen which makes your words even more important. Every word in writing has to be precisely thought out to create emotion.

Being able to stick by your words is what makes the saying "actions speak louder than words" true. When apologizing, people say they are sorry and then explain how they are going to make it up. Depending on how people say it, they will have to stick to their words in order for their apology to mean anything at all. This is where some people say "sorry is not enough" because for the word sorry to mean anything you have to stay by your words and actions.

For all the sayings like "actions speak louder than words" and "sorry is not enough," you have to put your own words down first and then stick by them. Your own words have the power to affect how people feel about you and themselves. Words and actions coexist in order to create a balance in how you treat others in world around you.
