Scythe by Neal Shusterman is a young adult and dystopian novel that has an extremely unique concept and is the perfect book to read this season. In a world governed by a benevolent artificial intelligence called the Thunderhead, humanity has achieved immortality by eliminating disease and natural death. However, to maintain balance, Scythes are appointed to end lives, a process that has been given the name gleaning. The story follows two teenagers Citra and Rowan, who are reluctantly chosen to become apprentices to the esteemed Scythe Faraday. Both are initially opposed to the role, but they are drawn into the complexities and moral dilemmas of their training.

Practical Magic is a romantic fantasy movie starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. The story surrounds the Owens family, a family of witches where magic and excitement surround them. There is one problem, though: the men the Owens women fall in love with are doomed to an untimely death. Sally and Gillian Owens, sisters hexed by a centuries-old curse, have to cope with a witch's brew of events involving a possible love match for one, a zombie for the other, and a need to resume the age-old witchcraft taught by two doting Owens aunts. It combines humor and romance and makes the perfect spooky fall atmosphere.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a supernatural drama starring Sarah Michelle Geller and Michelle Trachtenberg. The show follows Buffy Summers, a young woman with a predestined calling to slay vampires, demons, and other supernatural forces. She is aided by a group of friends known as the Scooby Gang and is guided by her Watcher, Rupert Giles. The series is set in the fictional town of Sunnydale, California, and explores themes of teen angst, friendship, and the struggle between good and evil. Buffy's character is a symbol of resilience and empowerment, and the show has a significant impact on pop culture and television storytelling. It has amazing characters that you will get attached to and it might just be your new fall comfort show!

One of my favorite personal recipes for the fall season is a single serve bowl of apple crumble. The ingredients include one apple, cinnamon, brown sugar, butter, flour, and vanilla ice cream. First, grab a bowl and slice up your apple. Then, add cinnamon and brown sugar to the slices and add one tablespoon of melted butter. Now, grab a separate bowl and add three tablespoons of flour, one teaspoon of cinnamon, and one tablespoon of brown sugar to make your crumble. Add the crumble to the apple slices and air fry for fifteen minutes. Lastly, top with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!

Apple Pie by Lizzy McAlpine is an indie folk song and it is one of my favorite songs that she has written. This song explores themes of longing for a sense of home and belonging. It reflects on the transient nature of life and the emotional ups and downs experienced by the narrator. The narrator questions how to create a home, suggesting that home is not just a physical place, but a feeling of comfort found in the presence of loved ones. The lyrics emphasize that home can be anywhere when you are with the right person, highlighting the importance of connection over physical location. It is a soft, quiet song that is perfect for a cozy autumn day in the fall.
