Shelfie Bio: Taylor

Valentine's Day is almost upon us and there's nothing I love more than sitting in my reading chair with a good book (preferably with snow) while the Pride and Prejudice soundtrack does its whimsical thing in the background.

Because my obsession with reading has no bounds, the one thing I wanted in my room was a bookshelf big enough to make me feel like I had my own personal library and/or bookstore.

Well, I got my wish.

And I'm running out of space so it's time to expand (p.s. ignore that little water bottle in the corner I try to stay hydrated).

A general overview: The middle shelf is filled with CDs, albums, signed items, and concert tickets by my favorite musical artists, as well as gifts over the years from family, friends, and former professors. The two flanking shelves are stocked with books except for the bottom two right shelves which are KPop albums I've casually collected since 2012.

Key Shelves from the Left Bookcase:

On the top left shelf are mostly books I read growing up (there are a few stragglers in their midst). The Sisters Grimm series by Michael Buckley (top left) was introduced to me by a teacher in the fifth grade and transformed my reading life. Fairytale retellings, the series follows two sisters, Sabrina and Daphne, as they discover they're descendants from the Grimm brothers. Together they solve several mysteries amongst fairytale characters in their sleepy little town. We have the whole series with brand new covers at the library for check out here.

On the second shelf: my pride and joy:

My entire Marissa Meyer collection resides here except for the exclusive signed Gilded, which resides on my floor because as mentioned: no space. Also gotta keep that water bottle company.

Marissa Meyer wrote The Lunar Chronicles and everything about this series makes me happy. The strong characters, the world-building, the progression of the series with the Rampion Crew connecting and going on wild space adventures. And of course: Carswell Thorne, captain of the Rampion spaceship. If my Valentine were a fictional character it would be this man. Yes, I'm fully aware this is a little sad... however! Men written by women?

Moving on to the right shelf...

Key Shelves from the Right Bookcase:

Much like my Marissa Meyer shelf, this is my Sarah J. Maas shelf. It's beginning to wilt under all the weight because her books are basically a thousand pages long. The A Court of Thorns and Roses exclusive covers are my favorite covers I own, and the series is also a fairytale retelling of Beauty and The Beast/The Story of Hades and Persephone (are you sensing a theme here? Fairytale retellings are my life). I have three copies of this series (paperback, hardcover, exclusive covers), which is definitely excessive but that's me-he-he.

Directly below it is another one of my favorites; it's my fantasy/mystery shelf:

Key Shelves from the Middle Bookcase:

I'm running out of room on this shelf, but Taylor Swift is my favorite artist and I grew up with her music so she means a lot to me. There's a guitar pick not shown that her dad gave me when I met him and her mom, Andrea, at the Red Tour in 2013 (they're basically the sweetest people ever), and the signed Lover was a surprise from her website when I was in college. There's a bookmark to the right my brother got me for Christmas that has confetti from the Reputation Stadium Tour made into it.

I really love the smaller shelves because they highlight a lot of wonderful memories. Places I've been, people I've seen... there are clues of memories and loved ones that I can look at anytime, and that's beautiful.

Thanks for sticking around, I'm going to go get another shelf now so my stuff doesn't have to chill on my floor anymore.
