Fall in Union County has a magical quality about it. The air becomes cool, the colors of the leaves change, turning amber and a crimson gold, and every place is just another beautiful photo opportunity waiting to be clicked. If you are looking for the ultimate spot for a fall/autumn dump, then you have come to the right place!
If you are looking for some fun and amazing picture-taking opportunities this fall, you won’t have to look very far. Right here in Waxhaw is the gorgeous Cane Creek Park, and this is guaranteed to be an awesome place this fall. The leaves will be every color on the fall spectrum, the lake will be calm, and as the sun sets, all will be gold. Come to the lake during this golden hour. Your photographs will look as if they were professional, regardless of whether you are familiar with taking photographs or not.
Downtown Waxhaw is another place that’s just right for a relaxed Saturday afternoon. Between the trains, small coffee shops like Provisions and Crossroads, and the old bridge where everybody takes their selfies, it’s full-on autumn. You just show up, and you’re already set for all the content you need.
If you are more into urban environments, Downtown Monroe is your destination. The trees lining the courthouse are lit with red and orange leaves, so it’s as if you are walking through a postcard. Then, there’s Belk Tonawanda Park, where you can relax and people-watch.
Oh, and let’s not forget about the Union County Library – no joke. The Monroe Main Branch library has giant windows, reading nooks, and excellent lighting for studying, but it also makes for pretty selfies. If you’re in TAG, you already know how we’re always trying to come up with ways to decorate and make it look great for the season.”
If you are open to an adventure, there are still many things to enjoy about farms like Aw Shucks and Wise Acres after Halloween. What is more fall than corn mazes, barns, and open fields?
When you are out taking pictures, here are some things to keep in mind: Golden hour is always the best (right before sunset, the light is perfect), layer your clothing, and never be afraid to snap some silly and candid photos; those are always the ones you look back on and cherish. Of course, always be mindful of your surroundings and of others. But autumn is short, and soon enough, it’ll be all gray skies and freezing mornings. Let’s pick our phones up and get outside while things are still colorful. There’s no reason to spend any money or go far, either, because Union County has plenty of places waiting for us.
