How Audiobooks Changed the Way I Read

When I think of reading, I get bored, but recently I have discovered the realm of audiobooks. This has changed me in a way I would never think it would have thought. All I have to do is press play, and there it goes, it's like a movie playing in my head.
I have recently started reading The Witches by Roald Dahl, and this book, with the hilarious narrator, makes me laugh out loud while doing tasks I always get bored with, like doing chores like the dishes and vacuuming the whole house. This really has helped because it made me more motivated and engaged while doing tasks that many people don't enjoy, while doing something they enjoy at the same time!
I had already previously read this book in the 4th grade, but after reading it again the I was surprised by how much the narrator added to the story. The Grand High Witch sounded scary, and the jokes had made me laugh out loud, looking like a maniac with headphones on in front of my family.

The best part is that many libraries make it so accessible to audiobooks. The Union County Library and so many other libraries have services like Hoopla, Kanopy, and Libby.
The sign-up is quick and easy, and to have access to the book is completely free. With these 3 platforms, I will most definitely be listening to so many more books, keeping me less bored and less likely to start scrolling and watching short-form videos on my phone.
If you haven't tried audiobooks and you don't think it's “traditional”. You should try it, It changed me, and it can change you for sure too! I would recommend starting with The Witches. It might change how you read, like it did for me. Stories are everywhere, and audiobooks make it simple to enjoy them anytime and anywhere.
