North Carolina is a state that has a lot of history behind it, including Ghost stories and haunted places. There are countless stories that have been told for years, and here are a few of my favorites.

  1. Jamestown Bridge

Jamestown Bridge is located in Jamestown, NC in Guilford County and is said to be haunted by a young woman named Lydia. In the 1920's there was a car crash on High Point Road that resulted in the death of Annie Lydia Jackson. It was a rainy night, and some say a boy and a girl were driving to a dance. As they were driving over the bridge, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip and Annie was thrown out of the car. It is said that in rainy or foggy weather you can see a woman dressed in a white gown calling out for a ride. Many have claimed that they have seen her and when they get out of their car to talk to her, she disappears.

  1. Historic Rosedale

This house is located in Charlotte, North Carolina and was built in about 1815. The house is currently being used as a museum, wedding venue, and a center for other events. Throughout the years this home has a history of ghost stories and activity. No one really knows the background of the spirits but there has been evidence of supernatural activity. One of my immediate family members has seen a ghost of a woman standing in the second story window. Throughout the years, many ghosts have been spotted at this home.

  1. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

This lighthouse located in the Outer Banks of North Carolina has many haunted tales that are told. There are many stories that are associated with this lighthouse, but the one that is told the most is about the "Grey Man". Travelers and locals claim that a man will show up and warn them of an incoming storm. Many believe that this man is a ghost who died in a storm on the sea.

Another spirit that haunts this lighthouse is the "Ghost Cat". Legend is that a black-and-white cat roams the grounds of the lighthouse and will greet people who come by. The cat does this by rubbing up against their legs and looking for attention. The cat is said to be very friendly, but once you try to pick it up, it will vanish into the air. No one knows exactly why the cat is at the lighthouse, but some say it is the ghost of the former lighthouse keeper's cat.

  1. Ghost Horse Of Union County

Around 1827 there was a white stallion that would constantly roam territories in North Carolina. The stallion was known to roam around Indian Trail, Monroe, and Wesley Chapel. People in the town observed this horse and thought he would be a nice riding horse. They built traps and tried to outsmart the horse, but it never worked. The people in the town came up with another idea. They were going to grazed the horse's neck so he fell unconscious and they could catch him. The men of the town performed a coin toss to determine who got the first shot. When the coin toss was finished, the young man fired and shot too low on the horses neck. His aim ended up killing the white stallion. He is most known to roam around the area that is now the Monroe Airport.
