Easy DIY Earrings

Hi everyone! This is a fun idea to make your own little trinkets using old trash! The only things you need are an oven and some #6 plastic (which is usually what those clear takeout containers are made of). For this craft specifically, I also used a hole puncher and some earring attachments that I had around the house. Some sort of wire works perfectly for this too, depending on what your plan is.

Instructions:
Draw out your shape on a piece of paper. It shrinks to around 1/5 of the size, so keep that in mind when you draw it.

Lay the plastic over the sketch and trace it with a permanent marker. If you’re using Shrinky-Dink, make sure you draw on the rougher side.
Cut it out! Make sure to leave a small border and don’t cut any tight corners. (I did that on my first go-around and accidentally broke it. Be smarter than me.) Leave a spot for your hole puncher!

Put it in the oven at 325°F for around 3-5 minutes. I put mine on aluminum foil, so it didn’t leave plastic residue on the baking sheet. Sit and watch this part! It’ll fold in on itself a bit, but don’t panic. It’s a trust-the-process kind of thing.

I swear this is okay, they’ll flatten out! Take it out and flatten it with something heavy (I used a cast iron pan for this part). After letting them cool and flatten out, put in your hoops, rings, or wire to make the earring/keychain.

The finished project is on the front cover if you want to see it with earrings. I hope this craft is fun and that you have a great day! Enjoy! <3
