Hello everybody! School has started again, and I wanted to highlight my first day experience! Here are some helpful ideas that will keep the 2025-2026 school year stress-free and improve your focus while in the classroom.

I hope you learn something new that will help you out with this new school year. Have a great semester!

The Night Before

  1. Lay out the clothes the night before. It helps keep things less stressful in the morning, and I feel more organized when I don't have to think about what to wear!

  1. Take a shower the night before. This really helps me relax and release a lot of stress. It might also be a place where you can organize your thoughts and rid yourself of any anxiety you might be having.

  1. Get a good night's sleep! I know adults will constantly say this, but it's true. Sleeping is key to staying on top of everything school related, whether it be your academics or athletics. If you are sleep-deprived, it may be why school is so tough sometimes.

                                                          My School Day

  1. Get to school early. After I finish breakfast and get ready, I head off to school and arrive there about an hour early. I often have meetings for clubs before school. Joining clubs is the perfect way to meet new people and find things that you're interested in, and it personally has helped me a lot with my high school experience.

  1. Get organized! I have four classes this semester, so it's super important that I keep all my papers and assignments organized. I like to use folders and binders that are color coded. This helps to eliminate any stress of losing papers or not being able to find notes for a specific topic, which I know lots of students struggle with.

  1. Find a good way to study. I am taking more difficult courses this year with a heavy workload. I think it's important to have a group of friends who you can study with! I like having a second opinion about different assignments and find my friends' questions help with understanding the class's material. Don't be afraid to reach out to teachers either! They will be your biggest supporter throughout your high school career and will not hesitate to answer any questions you might have.

  1. Join a sports team. At the end of the day, I have volleyball practice and I'm sure many of you also play sports in the afternoon. It is super important that you have a healthy balance between your academics and athletics! You don't want to fall behind in a class because of a sport, so make sure you are finding the time to study and do your homework in between practices and games.
