Have you ever thought about playing a musical instrument? You definitely should. Playing an instrument can help your brain process things faster, relax, and learn fine motor movement and hand-eye coordination.

When you learn to play an instrument, you have to learn how to read sheet music. Sheet music has complex symbols that you have to learn to understand. This helps your brain learn to process things faster and better. This allows your brain to understand complex things faster and have a stronger memory.

Music can also help you relax as well. Music can make you feel many different emotions. According to Harvard Medicine Magazine, "The salience of these sounds — whether a person responds to them emotionally and motivationally — influences the autonomic nervous system (ANS), a network that controls certain involuntary processes like breathing and heart rate. The valence of the music, which signals whether the music feels positive, negative, or somewhere in between, influences the ANS, too. These factors are among the reasons why our heart rate goes up". This shows that music can control your emotions and that listening to the right music can be almost therapeutic and very relaxing. Playing an instrument can be very relaxing if you are playing a fun, easy piece of music.

Playing an instrument can also teach you fine mother movement and hand-eye coordination. When you are playing a fast piece or even a slow piece, you have to identify the notes and play them accordingly on the instrument. To play the right note you have to breathe correctly, or hold your hand in a certain position, etc. This improves your hand-eye coordination skills.

In short, there are many reasons you should play an instrument, some of them are that it can be relaxing, it can improve your processing skills, and it can boost your hand-eye coordination. Another good reason is that colleges love it. Not only are you getting these great effects, you also have a higher chance to get into college. So go find an instrument to play! Have Fun!
