With season three of The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP) releasing today, it's time to do a review of the first two seasons. The first season of TSITP is about how the main character, Isabel, better known as Belly, her brother Steven, and their mom, Laurel, visit their family friends at their beach house, just like they do every summer. At the beach house live two brothers, Jeremiah and Conrad, with their mother, Susannah. In the first season, Belly turns sixteen and her summer seems to turn upside down. Belly has had a crush on Conrad since she was ten, and now that she is older, she sees that he is interested in her, but so is his brother. This causes a love triangle between the three. Season one ends with Belly and Conrad kissing on the beach.

Season two takes place after Susanna has died, and Belly and Conrad have broken up. This caused both families to fall apart. It starts with Belly and Jeremiah going on a road trip back to Cousins Beach to find Conrad, only to learn the beach house is up for sale. The family reconnects by working together to save the house. Belly struggles with her feelings for both brothers, but in the end chooses Jeremiah.

After bingeing the series many times, one of the things that stuck out to me was how teens and growing up are portrayed throughout the show. The actors did a great job of expressing the characters, and the show is a bit more tame than the book, but it is still very entertaining to watch. There is a lot of drama, and I suggest it for 13+ audiences. A fun fact about the show is that some parts were filmed right here in North Carolina at Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Wrightsville Beach near Wilmington.
