Road Trip Rules

Every summer, my husband and I take several weekend or day road trips. Most of the time it's to the beach or the mountains of Tennessee. Most recently, we mixed it up and ventured to our state's capital, Raleigh. With every road trip, certain things have to be included: Snacks and a jammin' playlist.

Let's talk snacks first. If you're not shopping at a convenience store like you're a kid again, then you're not doing it right. The car should look like the junk food aisle exploded.

Chips

Honestly, any chip flavor will do! Heck, get crazy and grab several flavors. My go-to flavors are BBQ and my newest obsession, UTZ crab chips. I know sounds weird, but it's flavored with Old Bay seasoning and they are aMaZiNg!!!

Slushies

I can't say enough about slushies. They just make me happy! Larger convenience stores like QT are the best places because they have several different flavors. My favorite combo is a coke slushie with a little cherry thrown in. Or, when I want something fruity, I always go for melon berry.

Candy

So many options! My choices are dependent on whether I am in the mood for something chocolaty or fruity. If it's chocolate, I go with anything related to Reese's or Snickers. If it's a fruity-flavored mood, I go with SweetTart ropes, because they taste amazing dipped in a slushie. Or I just go for Starburst.

Now, let's talk music. The right music is essential to a road trip, especially if it's a long one. I enjoy a variety of music but tend to stick to upbeat music to keep awake, especially during those long rides to the TN mountains.

Now that you got the snacks and the music go, out there and make memories this summer!
